~~ THE WOMAN TIME FORGOT ~~

Night after night,

she stood upon this mountain top.

Waiting there all alone,

a memory that would not stop.

Looking out over the horizon,

winds blowing through the air.

Stars fill the dusty skies,

but her gaze was a blank stare.

~~~

It was here,

when last she was with him.

He caressed her tender lips,

was she simply a passing whim.

~~~

Watching him leave,

to sail the mighty waters deep.

Trusting he would remember,

the words he swore to keep.

~~~

He promised to return again,

the journey away from her not long.

But for many years now,

time passed yet he was still gone.

She would wait forever,

for this one single man,

Who crossed over the oceans,

to venture to another land.

~~~

Night after night,

she stood upon this mountain top.

Lost to the world below,

the woman time forgot.
